Our track is inspired by "The Music of Erich Zann" a horror short story by American author H. P. Lovecraft, written in 1921, exactly 100 years ago.

The story is an account of the enigmatic Erich Zann, an elderly musician whose unique and unworldly melodies draw the curiosity of a young metaphysics student, who rents the room below him. Every night he hears Zann playing an undefinable and unearthly form of music on his viol (an early form of cello), and he is intrigued.

The student starts sitting in on his nightly playng, but is firmly instructed to stay back from the open garret window, where Zann alone stands and plays intensely.

One night, the student hears a commotion and screaming, and rushes up to help. Zann is in distress, and starts writing at speed, telling the student that what he writes will explaining everything. An unnatural wind errupts through the window, becoming a cacophany. Zann enters a form of trance, stops writing and goes to the open window to play his strange music with frightening fervour. The papers are blown everywhere, and as the student approaches Zann from behind, instead of seeing the city lights below, he sees a terrible black void, an infinite abyss of chaos...
