Y Dref Wen (The Shining Town) is the first release from the side-project The Darkening Months, a collaboration created under lockdown between Tribes of Medusa (NYC) and Dead Space Chamber Music (Bristol, UK). The work is driven by the instinct to reach out and join in music, at times of crisis.

This track is based around a set of traditional Welsh song lyrics about the 7th century invasion and destruction of a town. The words felt resonant with the way that the current pandemic was bringing destruction and eerie silences across the towns and cities of the world.

Tribes Of Medusa began as a dark ambient/industrial project from Brooklyn New York that formed in the early summer of 2009 it combined the martial aspects of industrial and meshes it with the lushness of dark ambient. After participating many compilations and collaborations, ToM decided to venture into other musical territories, that being more of an atmospheric guitar driven experience.

Dead Space Chamber Music are a dark neoclassical group from Bristol, UK. “Under their influence, the listener enters an altogether ancient, and post-modern apocalyptic ritual.
